Senator Mohammed Ahmed Bima who represented Niger South Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly, at the weekend began the distribution of fertilizer to farmers in the eight local government areas that make up the constituency.

Not less than 20,000 rural farmers are to benefit from the gesture.

Flagging off the distribution at Enagi, Bima said the exercise was part of his social responsibility to his constituents even, “when for now I am not in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

“I will continue to discharge my responsibilities to the people in my constituency either I am a Senator or not, it has become my way of life,” Bima who is challenging his defeat in the 2023 senatorial election at the Niger State Governorship /National / State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal said.

He charged farmers to cultivate more land with food and cash crops for them to be able to meet their family and other demands, adding that the free distribution of the fertilizer would go a long way for them to realise their ambitions.

Bima, also said the gesture would cushion the effect of the removal of subsidy from petrol by the federal government on the beneficiaries, even as he urged the beneficiaries not to sell the farm input.

He charged the people to be patient with both the state and federal governments, adding that the steps being taken were to make life better for all Nigerians and revamp the national economy.

Bima, commended the people for living in peace with one another emphasising that the situation should be sustained because, “without peace there cannot be development.”

The farmers appreciated Senator for “coming to our aids and prayed for his success at the tribunal”.
