Seven Die, Five  Injured in Fatal Motor Accident in Jigawa

Seven persons lost their lives and five others were left with various degrees of injuries in a ghastly car accident at Kirla village, along Birniwa Malam Madori Road in Jigawa State.

Confirming the incident, the Spokesman of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr. Gambo Ibrahim, said that the incident happened around 1:30 p.m. when the occupants wereing go back to their respective destinations.

Ibrahim said that “the deceased comprised five males and two females and that all the victims had been referred to Birniwa General Hospital, for medical attention.”

Ibrahim, who could not ascertain the cause of the accident, urged motorists to shun overloading, over-speeding and road traffic laws violation.

According to an eyewitness who does not want his name in print, the accident involved three commercial vehicles conveying passengers from Jajimaji and Hadejia Market back to their respective villages.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of National Union of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) Birniwa Local Goverment Branch, Mr. Alhajijin Baba, said that some of their officials rushed to the scene and took the victims to the Birniwa General Hospital for treatment.

Baba said that the accident happened after a head-on collision with three vehicles, including J5 Peugeot, Golf and Hilux bus, carrying businessmen who were mostly indigenes of Birnuwa Local Government Area.
