Women Group Lauds DEPOWA for Empowering Youth, Widows

The Women Economic and Security Protection Group has commended the new President, Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs Oghogho Musa, for empowering youth and widows.

The group said the recent graduation of some youths trained by DEPOWA in various vocational trades like cosmetology, make-up, head tie making, cosmetics, detergent production and hairdressing and the presentation of food items to about 60 widows will boost the morale of troops engaged in operations across the country.

The group’s President, Fatima Bello, said in a statement that with DEPOWA’s gesture, troops will be rest assured that their sacrifices for peace to reign in the country will not be in vain.

They commended the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa, for throwing his weight behind DEPOWA, saying it is an indication that he will continue the cordial relationship with troops as seen during his time in the North-east.

“DEPOWA and the Chief of Defence Staff, Maj-Gen Gwabin Musa, have sent a message to troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria that their sacrifices are well appreciated.

“It is also a message that widows and family members of departed personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria will not be abandoned. We, however, continue to pray that our troops, who are making sacrifices for peace and stability, will return home safely after their stay in the battlefield,” Bello said.

The group said the skills acquired by the graduates will enable them to create a better future for themselves and their families.
