IFC Presents MFF With an EDGE Certification Award

The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, has presented the Millard Fuller Foundation (MFF), an affordable housing organization in Nigeria, with an Advanced EDGE Certificate for the Grand Luvu 3B Estate.

The event, which took place in Abuja on Tuesday, 25th July 2023, at the 17th edition of the Africa International Housing Show, had in attendance major stakeholders in the real estate, construction, and housing finance sector.

Speaking during the certificate presentation, IFC’s Country Manager for Nigeria, Mr Kalim Shah, noted that the IFC instituted EDGE will promote sustainability in the real estate development sector with the construction of green buildings.

In a press statement issued by MFF, the Executive Director (Projects), Mrs Funmi Odia, noted that the award is a demonstration of the organization’s commitment to green building.

Odia said: “This certification by the IFC is a demonstration of MFF and Reall’s commitment to global standards of dealing with challenges posed by climate change. We are determined to protect our environment and ensure customer satisfaction, while setting the pace in the affordable housing space through our commitment to best global practices,” she noted.

In his remarks, the CEO of the Millard Fuller Foundation, Sam Odia, noted that MFF will focus on developing green affordable homes as part of its commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Following this certification, residents of 184 housing units at the Grand Luvu 3B Estate in the Greater Abuja area developed by MFF, an organization established in 2006 to provide affordable homes for low-income earners, will be making significant savings on energy and water consumption costs.

Commissioned by the immediate past Vice-president of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on 11th February 2022, the Grand Luvu 3B Estate was financed by the Swedish International Development Agency through Reall UK.

EDGE is an innovation of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. IFC created EDGE as a credible tool to validate green buildings and unlock financial investment.
