In His Father’s Name … After Losing Last Election Woefully, Idris Gets New Appointments
There are times when this road called life needs to be walked by others first. The advantage of having others go ahead has shown itself multiple times in the life of Idris, the son of the late former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi. Even now, the spark that the Senator ignited before his demise remains bright and brilliant. Thus, his family can benefit from it.
The 10th National Assembly is almost done with internal and external finishes. With new aides popping up left and right, it would not be surprising to catch a strange name or a name without a clear line to the power brokers of the nation. But even more surprising is the name of Idris in the list of aides.
The current Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Barau Jibrin, is responsible for ringing up the Ajimobi name. Based on his recent appointments, Idris has been appointed to serve as the Special Adviser of Special Duties. Given what folks know of his political troubles, Idris’ special appointment most likely came by special recommendation.
It is not news that Idris does not have the same charm and mastery of the human heart as his father did. Going by his first foray into the politics of Oyo, in which he was beaten back, Idris is still upcoming. So, the appointment from Barau is likely to help him cement his experiences and bring out the golden reputation of his father.
To an extent, Idris is not bad. He is an intelligent young man, ambitious and hopeful about the future. But his name is a loud baritone that calls the attention of all and sundry. Unless he outstrips his late father in political appeal or accomplishments, it is obvious that he will remain in the shadows, never able to gain the same admiration as his peers.
Super Rich … How Abdullahi Rano Became One of the Richest in Nigeria
All kinds of human ambitions exist in this world. It seems that there are those for whom grand dreams are tailored. Abdullahi Rano (fondly called A.A. Rano) is one such person. With no big name backing him, Rano has climbed to the peak of his industry. At present, he is considered one of the brightest minds in the country, never mind one of the deepest pockets.
It is true that big things can come out of little things. Rano is a good example. Once upon a time, he was an unremarkable businessman from Kano, believed to have as much Hausa blood as Fulani. But that young man has grown over the years, achieved the dreams of his tender years, and now occupies the zenith of his industry, a truly made man.
Rano has dotted the Nigerian economy with hallmarks of his work. His businesses range in the tens, but the most remarkable ones are still over five. The best example is AA Rano which has been in operation since 2022. Other examples are subsidiaries such as Rano Petrotrade Limited, Ranogaz Limited, AA Rano Transport Limited, and Rano Lubricants Limited.
The most recent evidence of Rano’s still spreading financial majesty is Rano Air, a licensed airline incorporated in 2019 and expected to soon become a favourite among Nigerians. With the airline’s notable presence across eight stations, namely, Abuja, Kano, Lagos, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Kaduna, Yola, and Asaba, Rano Air is definitely going to reach great heights in a year or two.
With all of these, it is not strange that Rano is one of the richest individuals in the country. Indeed, his name is very likely present among the top listers of the wealthiest active businessmen in sub-Saharan Africa.
