She Creates 2023 Camp Open for Participation

The award-winning STEAM summer programme, She Creates 2023 Camp, has opened for girls, aged 13 to 17 years.
The Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Maths camp programme is designed to support early intervention, dispel preconceptions, and address the gender gap in technology.

The residential STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) camp, with the theme ‘SOLVE WITH AI,’ will focus on Artificial Intelligence, Internet of things, and Software development, with the goal of giving participants the skills they need to keep up with current developments.

Speaking about the camp in Lagos recently executive director, Women in Tech (WTECH), Oreoluwa Lesi, said the programme aims to inspire love for technology by delivering challenging and engaging hands-on technology workshops and classes.

She added that the programme would encourage girls to explore technology careers, by giving a realistic and positive idea of technology-related careers through career talks and career-themed films.

According to her, “It will help girls plan their future careers with the assistance of mentors and women currently working in these fields. To encourage out-of-the-box thinking by helping girls develop critical thinking skills within a nurturing environment while gaining fundamental life skills such as etiquette, teamwork, and leadership skills.”

She explained that this year’s programme is slated to be held in Lagos from 6th to 19th August, 2023.
She, however, urged prospective participants to register by completing the online form on camp@wtec.org.ng or call 081.241.83.666 for more information.
