Will Dollar Video Affect Ganduje’s Chance to Become the New APC Chairman?

All kinds of things are happening in present-day Nigeria, fuel prices and exchange rates inclusive. At the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party of President Bola Tinubu, things are even stranger. There is news that former Kano Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, is in line to be the Chairman of the ruling party. If this is indeed the case, what is to become of his case with the Nigerian government regarding his alleged bribery situation?

Ganduje is a special individual. When he was governor, he was known to be domineering. So confident were his ways that when a video was released supposedly capturing him accepting bribes in dollars, he did not flinch much. But things are slightly different now, in good and bad ways.

On the bad side, the justice system in Nigeria has not absolved Ganduje of wrongdoing. The Federal High Court in Kano has reportedly fixed a new date, September 22, to conclude his bribery case. Perhaps because the supposed bribery matter involves the dollar currency, the judgment is taking too long. Even so, with things being the way they are with the current exchange rate fluctuations, more people are watching and waiting to see what the court would say.

On the flip side, Ganduje is reportedly being considered for the APC Chairman position. According to those in the know, the former Kano governor has not shown any apprehension or fear on account of the Dollar bribery videos because he will soon be one of the most powerful individuals in the country.

If it does happen that Ganduje becomes APC Chairman, the court might hesitate to convict him. This is the consensus among most outspoken political analysts on social media. The dollar videos might be thrown out of court soon enough. When that happens, Ganduje might as well ring a bell to have the APC Chairmanship badge delivered to him at home.
