• Mobilise members for nationwide strike

The Katsina State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s fuel subsidy removal policy as a bad policy which has grave implications on Nigerians.
The union said the Federal Government policy that led to increment in fuel price was outrageous and insensitive to the economic plight Nigerian masses were being subjected to.
Addressing journalists shortly after the state executive council meeting ahead of the union’s August 2 nationwide strike and protest, the state NLC Chairman, Dr Hussaini Hamisu-Yanduna, said the state chapter would join in the protest.
He explained that the state executive council of the union has adopted the resolutions of the national body and had commenced the mobilisation of its members across the state for the nationwide strike and protest.
He said: “We summoned a state executive council meeting today (Monday) and we have discussed extensively. We adopted the resolutions of the national executive council meeting.
“We will mobilise our members and join all other states to observe the nationwide protest on the 2nd of August, 2023. We are going to conduct the protest in a very peaceful and orderly manner.
“The protest is not going to be chaotic. We will control ourselves and demonstrate to show to the whole world that we are not comfortable with the bad policy of the government of the day in Nigeria.”
He advised the government to adopt an alternative strategy that would not adversely hurt the Nigerian while seeking to resolve the issue of subsidy.
