As the support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, continues to soar high, members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Adavi Local Government Area of the state have dumped their party to join the APC, and drummed support for the state standard bearer in the forthcoming election.

While receiving the defector at Government House in Lokoja yesterday, the state Governor, Yahaya Bello, welcomed the defectors to APC, and pledged to work with them.

He added that he has welcomed a significant number of PDP and other political parties’ members into the APC from both Kogi East and Kogi West recently.

Governor Bello attributed the increasing defections to the APC to the effective leadership and infrastructure development his administration has brought to the state.

He encouraged the people to rally support for the APC candidate, Ododo Ahmed Usman, stating that retaining the APC leadership in the state would elevate the state political standing at the national level and attract more federal government presence and development.

The leader of the defectors, Unwaha Bello, applauded the governor’s investments in education, health, rural development, and road infrastructure.

He specifically highlighted the rehabilitation of Itakpe-Okene Road, Itakpe-Kuroko-Ehika Road, and other township roads in Okene, Adavi, and Okehi LGAs. Bello also commended the governor for his impartial distribution of resources and infrastructure.

The group pledged its commitment and support to the APC in the forthcoming governorship election.
