Abuja Boys Dominate 2023 Zenith Next Gen Masters

Four boys from two different tennis programs in Abuja – the Life Camp Tennis Club and the Mambilla Barracks Tennis Camp – have qualified for the semifinals of the 2023 Zenith Bank Next Generation Masters taking place at the Ikoyi Club in Lagos.

Taking full advantage of the absence of Seun Ogunsakin and Mubarak Ganiyu, who are abroad playing ITF Junior circuit tournaments, Michael Akpan and Canice Abua from the Life Camp emerged group winner and runner-up respectively from their different groups to qualify.

Michael will take on club mate Canice Abua while Yusuf who has displayed some fascinating skills in the tournament will square up against teammate Yahaya Sani for a place in the finals.

In the girls’ event, Khadijat Mohammed from Abuja recovered to seal a semifinal place with a 9-2 victory over Faith Adeusi from Ekiti and will meet Group B winner Mary Udoffa  from Kogi for a place in the finals. The other semifinal will be between hard hitting Etoro Bassey from the GUAF Academy in Akwa Ibom and Success Ogunjobi from Ekiti State.

The semifinal matches are scheduled to start from 2.00pm Friday with the grand finale coming up on Saturday starting 2.00 pm prompt.
