D’Tigress Defeat Host Rwanda to Qualify for AfroBasketball Final

Nigeria’s Senior Women’s Basketball team, D’Tigress, defeated host country, Rwanda 79-48 yesterday to book a place in the final of the ongoing FIBA Afrobasketball Championship in Kigali.

D’Tigress who won the last edition of the championship in Dakar two years ago will be chasing their fourth title in a row in Sunday’s final against either Mali or Senegal.

The victory against Rwanda was also the 23rd unbeaten run of the D’Tigress who were denied the chance to play at the last FIBA Women’s World Cup by immediate past Sports Minister, Sunday Dare, in his bid to quell the power-play in the Nigerian Basketball Federation.

Amy Okonkwo once again showed her class after netting 23pts, 10 rebound and 2 assists to lead the Nigeria ladies to their 4th consecutive final
