After a not too impressive performance last season in which Enugu Rangers failed to qualify for the Super Six and lost in the finals of the Federation Cup to Bendel Insurance, Flying Antelopes midfielder, Chukwudi Nwaodu, who was yesterday announced the new skipper of seven-time Nigeria League Champions, has promised the teaming supporters of the club that he was optimistic of leading the club to achieve its set targets for the season and in the near future.

Nwaodu, in a chat after he was appointed, said that his appointment was a call to redouble his service to the team stressing that with the support of his teammates, management, and coaches, there would be much reason for celebrations at the end of the 2023/2024 football season.

“I must confess that I was excited when I was called up as the team captain and I believe it is a call to service and I hope to serve well in my capacity to make sure we take the ‘Flying Antelopes’ to where it rightly belongs. I am sure that with the caliber of players in the team and the coach known for results, there will be no going back as we push for the best possible finish in both the NPL and Federation Cup 2024. I appeal to my teammates for their total cooperation and I believe they are going to support this course while also calling on our teaming supporters to continue to be with us through their prayers and steadfast support during games for us to bring back the glory of our club,” stated the former Heartland F.C of Owerri’ captain.

Also appointed is Passy winger, Chidiebere Nwobodo who will serve as the first assistant captain just as midfield maestro, Chinecherem Ugwueze is the second assistant captain.

Recall that the former captain of the side, Uche John left the club on the expiration of his contract just as the assistant duo of Ebuka Anthony and Ugwuoke Ugochukwu are no more with the team
