Stella Damasus Recounts Failed Marriage with Daniel Ademinokan

Nollywood actress, Stella Damasus recently had an interview with comedian and actor, Teju Babyface. During the conversation, Stella spoke on her failed marriage with ex-husband filmmaker and actor, Daniel Ademinokan, as well as his first wife and fellow actress, Doris Simeon. Stella revealed that despite what a lot of people thought, she was actually friends with her ex-husband’s first wife, Doris Simeon.

Stella explained that they both share an interest which was Doris’ son with Daniel and they both had to come together in a way that would benefit the child. Soon after Stella’s interview made the rounds online it drew series of reactions from fans and social media users who knew Stella, the genesis and tales of her third marriage and his estranged husband.

While in the eyes of some observers, it was karma that visited the actress, others feel and attribute it to the same take celebrity marriages never last, especially in movie industry. Recall that Stella had been constantly bashed online and accused of snatching Daniel from Doris. But according to Stella, she and Doris had already being friends and in good terms even before the husband-snatching criticisms.

Stella Damasus, who hails from Delta, was one of the beloved Nollywood stars during the home video era. Originally a singer, she made her first appearance in the movie ‘Abused’ in the 90s. Subsequent features in Nollywood shot her to fame. Following the death of her husband Jaiye Aboderin in 2004, Damasus kept a low profile and deliberately stayed away from the movie industry.

Although her reasons was to avoid being constantly stereotyped in movies. The other reason was to raise her daughters – Isobel and Angelica. Three years later, she married Emeka Nzeribe but the marriage lasted seven months before a divorce. 

Stella and Daniel Ademinokan got married in 2014. The marriage however crashed in 2020 — after their sixth wedding anniversary.

While speaking with Teju Babyface in the podcast session, Stella revealed that she had no idea her marriage had ended until she saw it on YouTube. According to the mum of two, Ademinokan had travelled for a long trip that he was meant to return from. However, only a few days after he travelled, she started to get messages and phone calls from people asking her about the state of their marriage.

The actress revealed she put a call through to her Daniel and even at the time did not realise what was going on until he finally revealed to her that he was not coming back. That was in 2020. Ademinokan was said to have walked out of their marriage and relocated to another state in the United States of America, where the couple lived.

It wasn’t long after Stella’s interview that a wedding video of Ademinokan surfaced online, showing he has gotten married for the third time. The filmmaker walked down the aisle with a new bride named Tope. In the viral video posted on Instagram, the two-time divorcee, and his bride were captured as they made their way into the wedding venue seen dancing and were surrounded by guests.
