A group, Make Imo Safe Movement, has expressed its support for the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his running mate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu and Jones Onyereri, in the forthcoming Imo State gubernatorial election on November 11, 2023.

The group, led by Edwin Okolie, said they are massively mobilising votes for the PDP governorship candidate ahead of the election.

Speaking with journalists in Port Harcourt yesterday, Okolie stressed the need to return peace and security to Imo State, assuring the people of their support for Senator Anyanwu and his running mate.

He regretted that Imo State, which used to be lively, attracting investors from all areas of life, has been turned into a restive area because of bad government.

Okolie said: “A massive vote for Senator Anyanwu is the only sure way to recover our dear state from the clueless regime of Hope Uzodinma.

“There is hardly anyone who is not feeling the pain of the evil hostilities, kidnapping, wanton killings, thuggery, harassment and unlawful detentions of innocent citizens making our state unsafe to visit. Truly, Imo State has never been this bad.

“Join this mass movement to vote out the APC government if we truly desire a safe and prosperous state. PDP is the most strongly positioned party with experienced, reliable and competent candidates that can defeat Uzodinma in the coming governorship election.

“We can end thuggery, election fraud, ballot box-snatching, kidnapping, banditry, unknown gunmen saga and the illegal Ebube Agu security operatives of Hope Uzodinma who are daily unleashing mayhem on innocent people, only with our vote.

“Sadly, many communities in Imo State today have become ghost towns and dreaded environments because of insecurity. Businesses are collapsing and our children are jobless.

“Obviously, Hope Uzodinma’s APC government is a monumental failure to the Imo people. We need to support the PDP to make the state safe and prosperous again.”
