The Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has led a team of security operatives to raid criminals’ enclaves in the Katsina metropolis as part of his government’s efforts in taming security challenges in the state.

Radda, in a statement issued to journalists yesterday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, led the security team for the operation last Tuesday night.

The operation, according to the statement, took place between 10 and 11:30 p.m. in criminals’ hideouts at Sabuwar Unguwa, Sharar Pipe, Dan Hako, Filin Polo, Kofar Guga, and Tudun Matawalle communities in the Katsina metropolis.

The statement read: “The criminals in recent months have been terrorising residents of the aforementioned areas and other parts of the Katsina metropolis. The hooligans specialised in snatching phones and extorting property of residents in various parts of Katsina city.

“During their nocturnal raid, Governor Radda, in his avowed commitment to rid the state of criminal elements, once again dished out commands to operatives of the police to deal ‘mercilessly’ with miscreants breaching peace and public order across Katsina State.”

Radda, thereafter, summoned an emergency security meeting with Security Chiefs in the state over the resurgence of crimes in some parts of the state yesterday morning.

He expressed worries and displeasure over the acute security challenges bedevilling the state, urging the security chiefs to be more proactive in carrying out their statutory responsibilities.
