Cautiously groomed to do music and toe the path of their father Sir Boj, who is also an entertainer, Damian and Desmond Boj (stage name) have carved a niche for themselves, as it seems, in the Nigerian music scene. Growing under the tutelage and well guided by their father – a producer, musician, an actor, and a video editor, one just may have to listen to this music duo or watch them perform to agree and know more about this fast-rising talents.

Real names Damian John and Desmond John, the Boj chaps are a set of twins born into the BOJ’s home, an entertainment family. They hail from Agbor, Delta State. Raised in Apapa, Lagos, their story is unusual of the regular story of artistes who started singing at church. Rather they started playing the guitar at the age of six and professionally at the age of nine. All thanks to their father, who is a guitarist.

“Really, I wanted them to do conscious music. But most of their songs have reggae fusion,” Sir Boj said. Beside music, Damian is an aspiring footballer, while Desmond wants to remain in the art world. He is a creative artiste. Damian’s hobbies include playing football, singing, playing guitar, and travelling. Desmond hobbies include dancing, singing, painting, playing guitar, and travelling.  Damian and Desmond Boj released their debut single titled ‘’We Must Overcome’’ on their 12th year birthday, 30th of August 2020.

The twin artistes also released the cover of 1982 hit song “Pass The Dutchie” a song originally done by musical youths in 2021. They have also recorded and released a couple of songs, including their most recent 2023 single ‘If No Be You’, an afrobeats bop which dropped on August 1st, featuring Oligbese 4sale. Damian and Desmond Boj are inspired by their father, who curated them through the songs of music legends of the 80s, and 90’s.

New generation artistes who inspire them includes Rema, Ayra Starr, and Tiwa Savage just to mention a few. They have performed at the Festival of Unity organized by National Arts Theatre (2021 and 2022), World Music Day Celebration 2023, Second edition of The Day of The African Child organized by Radio Nigeria, Ikoyi, in 2022. Their other performance gigs at Children’s Day celebration 2021 to 2023.

“Music means so much to them, and they are here for the experience, life lessons, and success that come with being young entertainers,” their father, Sir Boj tells Showbiz as they push their brand with a Birthday Bash, EP (SOAR) listening party and promotion of Damian and Desmond Boj coming up on the 30th of August 2023. Venue: X10 Lounge and Bar Wilmer Crescent, Olodi Apapa Lagos. Special guest artistes like African China, Oligbese 4sale and Pauly Pompom, among many more are expected to grace the event.
