Ben Nwokike’s directorial debut has stirred a certain interest which has spurred anticipation of the release of his upcoming movie ‘Insecure’.

A feature-length film, ‘Insecure’ has long been confirmed for a 2023 release and will have a theatrical exhibition. Fans and Nollywood movie buffs are already looking forward to it as Nwokike recently shared the first trailer for the forthcoming title.

Produced by Abdul Tijani-Ahmed for School Yard Productions, ‘Insecure’ tells the story of a devoted wife who helps her husband build a thriving art gallery, their seemingly perfect life is disrupted by a captivating woman.  As she grapples with heartbreak and betrayal, she must also confront her own insecurities and embark on a desperate quest for justice.

The producer exclusively shared how deeply impressed he was by the script, and even though he didn’t write it, it tickled his fancy. This ultimately made him jump on the project as a producer. “Something exciting about the film is its genre is, you never see anything coming, it just keeps unveiling itself. The film is most likely unpredictable because things keep shocking the audience,” Tijiani-Ahmed said.

Duo Efa Iwara and Beverly Naya play the loving couple whose world takes a new turn when the new woman (played by Venita Akpofure) comes into the picture. As the couple’s seemingly admirable relationship faces these new external challenges, the mother in the teaser trailer says: “Men, get in the way of themselves sometimes. Your dad did it…

“My own dad did it. Kunle (Efa Iwara’s character) will not be the first… he is not cheating,” as she pacifies Beverly Naya’s disturbed character. The cast also include Ade Laoye, Demi Banwo, Michael Ejoor, Darasimi Nadi, Tunbosun Aiyedehin, Daniel Abua, and Tope Olowoniyan. Shot in Lagos, ‘Insecure’ is a psychological drama film that explores the dynamics of love, betrayal, trust and deception.
