Bauchi Governor Reiterates Commitment Devt. Plan Implementation

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has said his ‘Bauchi Project,’ which is the strategic vision of his administration developed in 2019, has assisted the administration to meet the numerous demands of the citizenry.

The governor who was speaking yesterday, while receiving the report of the Technical Committee of the 2023 Transition at the Council Chambers, Government House, Bauchi, said his Bauchi project has also guided the development of the Bauchi State Medium Term Development Plan 2021-2025 as the roadmap to achieve the desired objectives. 

Mohammed, pointed out that between 2019 and 2023, his administration had recorded remarkable progress towards the provision of basic social services and improvement of the quality and stock of infrastructure that had tremendously affected the lives and welfare of the people. 

He said in addition, several major reforms had been undertaken within the various sectors of the public service in order to support the implementation of his plans and efforts for greater Bauchi state. 

The governor said in view of the current economic realities and his re-election for another period of four years, a review of the performances over the period of 2019 – 2023; the challenges that had impeded the overall implementation of the previous plan and the proposals made to address current and expected future demands for infrastructure and services had become imperative. 

According to him, “I wish to most sincerely thank the Chairman and members of the Committee for their commitment and painstaking efforts over the last three months that had resulted in a comprehensive report that has been captured in three volumes.”

The governor noted that in coming up with a robust plan of implementation, he would appoint an implementation committee that comprises key officials of government from various sectors, non-state experts from key sectors of education, healthcare, agriculture, natural resources, water resources, commerce and industries, technology and societal reorientation.

“We will constitute the Committee within the shortest possible time. The committee shall work to ensure the alignment of the State’s Plans (short term and long term) and Annual Budgets with the strategic vision and recommendations contained in the report; clear articulation of key performance indicators based on expected outcomes; monitoring and evaluation through the periodic review of performances of government institutions.”

On his part, the chairman of the committee, Prof. Usman Bugaje, who applauded Bala Mohammed for his foresight to come up with his Bauchi project, called for timely implementation of their recommendations to consolidate on his administration’s gains in first tenure.
