Keep Your Eyes on the Goal, KC Principal  Tells Graduating Students

The Principal, King’s College Lagos, Mr. Andrew Agada has urged the 440 graduating students of the college to always keep their eyes on the ball as they walk into the bigger space, where there are several contending issues.

Agada gave the advise at the graduation and valedictory service of the 2022/2023 set recently in Lagos.

The theme for the occasion was ‘Determination: Key to Success’.

Agada stated that there is nothing impossible to those who will always strive, adding that the students have displayed outstanding qualities while in the college, thus they have all it takes to sail through the struggles of life.

“You became avatars of excellence who excelled and stood out wherever you found yourselves representing the college. It is my conviction that you will replicate such enviable pedigree on the global stage.

“Members of the King’s College community are greatly proud of you and so pridefully associate with you as graduands of King’s College.

“Accordingly, we have rightfully chosen to celebrate and felicitate with you as today marks a beautiful end of your journey in King’s College, though as not to end your dreams.

“My dear Kingsmen, as educators, we have opened the door, you must enter it yourself. Take bold steps, never be scared of mistakes. Keep your eyes on the ball, Walk with God you will be great.

“I wish you all the success for the future and I know you will rock in the new path of life,” Agada said.

While thanking the federal government and other stakeholders for their constant support, the principal stated that the college is currently grappling with challenges like shortage of teaching and non-teaching staff; inadequate funds for regular maintenance of infrastructure; high cost of energy; high cost of food items, among others.

Chairman of the King’s College School Based Management Committee (KC SBMC), Jani Ibrahim, advised the students to always let the core values of the college- patriotism, chivalry, honour and leadership- be their watch word.

He said the world is waiting for them to achieve great things and be part of the leadership that makes the world a better place than they met it.

“As a world heritage site, you can be very proud that you have just graduated from an institution that has recognition beyond the shores of Nigeria. This comes with benefits and responsibilities.

“One of the major responsibility is that you have become one of the torch bearers of the college and every good and bad conduct henceforth will reflect on the image of the college internationally.

“You must not pass through the college but the college must also pass through you. I wish you abundance of the blessings of Almighty God and immense success in all you do in the great future that lies ahead of you,” the SBMC chairman added.

Chairman of the college’s Parent Teacher Association,

Mr. Sunday Ameh, lauded the resilience and achievements of the graduating students.

He urged them to always put God first in all of their endeavours and strive to be good ambassadors of the college.

“I wish you the best as you take on new challenges in life and may all your dreams be fulfilled” Ameh stated.
