Benin City Agog for 2nd DSP Kickboxing Championship
Kickboxers from across the country will will converge on Benin City, the Edo State capital for the 2nd Diamond Superstars Promotion (DSP) National Open Kickboxing Championship scheduled to hold between August 23 and 27, 2023, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin City.
This championship is sponsored by USA-based Nigerian-born Loveth Patra Ekufu, a former National and world Kickboxing Champion, former Mixed Martial Arts Champion and National/ International Referee of repute.
President of the Kickboxing Federation of Nigeria ( KBFN ), Mr. Wilson Okon, who disclosed this, said the championship is in conjunction with the KBFN, and is open to all states of the Federation, including military and para-military clubs. .
With August 23 set aside as arrival date, the president informed stakeholders that states will be responsible for the transportation, accommodation and feeding of their athletes.
He stressed that all the athletes will undergo medical tests prior to their bout and warned that any fighter that fails to show up for the medical examination and weigh-in at the stipulated time, risks missing the championship.
There will be award medals and certificates including reward with gift items to winners at the end of the excercise before the stakeholders meeting which takes place immediately after.
Delta State won the first edition of the championship.
