By Jonathan Eze
The newly appointed Minister of State, Police Affairs, His Excellency, Hon Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim is a round peg in a round Hlhole. So when she was assigned to the Police Ministry, a few who do not know her or who have not seen her rich resume may dismiss it on the basis of the fact that she is known to be an administrator who made a success out of NAPTIP and the entire humanitarian sector, not knowing that she is a security expert.
However, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim was a trained Participant of Executive Management Intelligence Course 14.
She has passed through rigorous training in security matters and her intelligence gathering skills is top notch.
She is currently completing her Doctoral Security and Strategic Studies programme at the Nigeria Defence Academy, which reflects her commitment to continuous professional development.
Would you not rather conclude that President Tinubu and his team did due diligence on her resume and made a good choice?
Hon Sulaiman-Ibrahim is passionate about security matters and that is why one of the most precious titles she flaunts when writing her names is the fsi (Fellow of the Security Institute).
So it’s appropriate to say that the Minister of State for Police Affairs is sufficiently trained and competent to improve the lots of the Nigerian Police Force and to boost their morale for efficient service delivery to the Nigerian citizenry.
The minister will draw up action plans that will impact on the welfare of the men and women of the force and will leave her marks in the sand of time like she has done at NAPTIP and most recently at National Commission for Refugees Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons.
Hon Imaan is a seasoned administrator, a proficient human resource person who has many degrees and laurels in the management of humans and resources and no doubt, like she tranaformed NAPTIP and NCFRMI, the Police Affairs ministry is fortunate to have her.
Another selling point of this Minister is the fact that she is cosmopolitan. She is well travelled and very very approachable. She is a problem solver and whatever she sets her heart on, turns out excellently well.
Hon Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim is a very good listener and a deep thinker.
She is a consummate and international professional with over two decades of technical, administrative, and executive experience across the public, private, and development sectors.
She is a country expert in conflict management, Human Capital Development and peace building, National Security, and an administrator par excellence.
Imaan earned a BSC in Sociology from the University of Abuja, and at the age of 21, she secured two Master’s Degrees, a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) and a Master’s of Art in Management (MA), both from Webster University, St Louis, Missouri (London Campus).
Imaan is the Co-Founder/President of The Beehive Initiative, which is now the BumbleeBee Civic Initiative, a platform focused on nurturing and mentoring politically inclined women and creating grassroots civic awareness.
She served as Special Assistant – Strategic Communication and Partnerships to the Minister of State for Education from August 2019 to December 2020, where she championed the innovative Alternate School Programme that secured FEC approval.
She was appointed DG of The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, where she contributed immensely to the plights of trafficked persons and worked assiduously towards strengthening the national response to addressing irregular migration.
Subsequently she was drafted to the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons as Federal Commissioner, where she left indelible marks in integrating Persons of Concerns and other policies that will outlive her.
Hon Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim is an award-winning politician and a strategist, and now the Honourable Minister of State, Police Affairs.
