Wife of an Itsekiri Youth Leader, Mrs. Ete Esu, has called on the Delta State Police Commissioner, Wale Abass and prominent Itsekiri leaders to help secure the release of her husband allegedly abducted Wednesday night at their house in Idimijakpa, Okere in Warri South local government area of the state.

Mrs. Esu’s husband, Lucky Esu, was said to have been violently abducted at his home about 12 midnight, hours after he made a video which went viral about the crisis rocking Okere community youth body.

There had been factional youth crisis in Okere Community and Lucky Esu, last weekend made a viral video, warning the leadership of Itsekiri National Youth Council (INYC) to stay off Okere Community youth affairs.

He had in the viral video claimed that people of Okere Community were descendants of Ekpenede, not Ginuwa 1 Ruling House of Warri Kingdom.

It was not clear if his purported ‘abduction’ has any link to the crisis rocking the youth body. But some powerful forces in Itsekiri land were said not to be comfortable with the video.

Mrs. Esu had at about 6 pm on Wednesday August 16, raised the alarm that her husband was kidnapped from their home, a night after he made the viral video.

She said that even though the kidnap had been reported to the Police at ‘ A’ Division in Warri and search party launched by youths in Okere, no contact has been made by the abductors, who she alleged pointed gun at their child, in the bid to get her husband.

Delta State Police Commissioner, Wale Abass, in a telephone conversation yesterday, said it was not true that the youth leader was kidnapped as being insinuated but was arrested and currently undergoing interrogation.

He said he would be released when police are though with interrogating him.

“I think because of the time frame, that’s why they were insinuating that the boy was kidnapped. I think they have been informed that the boy was arrested yesterday.

“He was arrested and not kidnapped. He is with the police, I am not in the office now but I have been  told about it. So he is undergoing interrogation, after interrogation they will release him”, the commissioner of police said.
