Group Warns Detractors of Ondo Acting Gov

A socio-political organisation,  Ondo Solidarity Forum,  has warned those it described as fifth columnists in Ondo State government circles, “who are bent on undermining the constitutional powers bestowed on the Acting Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa”, to desist.

The group issued the warning in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Sunday after an extraordinary meeting to appraise the state of affairs in the state.

Reacting through a communique signed by its chairman,  Dr. Dipo Okeyomi, and publicity secretary, Prince Kayode Fasua, the OSF averred that “it is no longer a secret that some fifth columnists,  who are bent on undermining the constitutional powers bestowed on the Acting Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, are working round the clock”.

The group lamented that the activities of such persons have sent tongues wagging in the streets that a cabal exists in the state, whereas there should have been no cause for such.

“That Aiyedatiwa is loyal to his boss, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu who is recuperating in far-away Germany, and does not exhibit any vaulting ambition, should not be taken as a sign of weakness and as such, top government officials who work under him should not assume that they are untouchable.

“So far, the Acting Governor has demonstrated to the good people of Ondo State that he is competent and responsible and from all indications, Ondo State has remained peaceful and a progressing society under him, thus improving on the good legacies of Governor Akeredolu,” the  OSF oberserved.

The group particularly remarked that Aiyedatiwa had kept faith  with the agenda of his boss through regular payment of salaries and offsetting of their  arrears, besides aggressive implementation of capital projects and other lofty deeds.

While wishing Governor Akeredolu speedy recovery,  the OSF urged commissioners, special advisers and other top government officials to display loyalty to constituted authority in the state, “to retain their job and integrity”.

It also counselled the state’s House of Assembly to shun and upbraid persons making negative moves to drag the Assembly into plots to concoct unfounded allegations against the executive arm of government, even as it prayed for the peace and progress of Ondo State.
