Distinguished scholar Udenta O. Udenta commemorated his significant 60th birthday through a series of insightful discussions covering arts, politics, and Nigeria’s future prospects.

During these enlightening talks, Prof. Udenta emphasized the crucial importance of involving young voices more actively in the realms of governance and decision-making.

He unveiled his vision for policies that cater to youth interests, aiming to engage the younger generation in a way that goes beyond representation, ensuring their ideas contribute to tangible advancements.

He highlighted that movements like #EndSARS hold potential for positive disruption, exposing systemic flaws while harnessing youthful energy for constructive transformation.

The scholar who captivated attention at the Confluence of Future Arts event, jointly organized with Roving Heights Bookstore, marked his 60th birthday with thoughtful contemplation on a Saturday in Abuja.

Amid discussions on culture and politics, Prof. Udenta underscored the interconnectedness between cultural innovation, political engagement, and Nigeria’s untapped potential.

Reflecting on his journey, Prof. Udenta explained, “The transition from my forties to fifties and now into my sixties has granted me a unique perspective on the convergence of intellect and action within Nigeria’s context.”

He emphasized the importance of active participation in politics, while advocating for intellectuals to shape the nation’s trajectory.

He stressed that sharing and disseminating ideas widely has the power to influence generations and spark transformative change.

This celebration, he revealed, marks the beginning of a series of events designed to bridge generations, facilitate dialogue, and mentor young leaders.

The upcoming agenda includes a series of intellectual gatherings, culminating in an official celebration on August 26th and a thought-provoking exhibit on September 5th.

Prof. Udenta shared that these events will foster intergenerational conversations and mentorship opportunities, creating an environment where young minds can connect, exchange ideas, and receive guidance for their future endeavors.

In his keynote address, Prof. E. E. Sule emphasized the challenges faced by the younger generation in accessing political positions due to the older generation’s influence.

He urged the youth to read and absorb the culture of tenacity and activism, suggesting that informed action is essential for bringing about social change.

He also cautioned against succumbing to fear and encouraged proactive and determined protests to achieve their goals.
