Common Beauty Mistakes Women Make – CEO, Skin Therapy Beauty and Spa

One of Nigeria’s leading skin therapists and aesthetician, Mimi Whyte-Femi, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Skin Therapy Beauty and Spa situated in Lagos, Abuja and Porthacourt has highlighted some of the common mistakes women make, regarding their general beauty routine.

According to the beautiful entrepreneur, our skin, men and women are affected by harsh weather conditions , sun exposure, stress from our day to day activities, use of wrong and harmful products and pollution. She said use of products alone can’t do the job, so most people would need to come get an in-spa treatment service done to see results and achieve a healthy glowing skin.

On bleaching, she said, ‘A lot of people in general, choose to lighten their skin. A lot of international celebrities do as well. Some people prefer to be lighter and some others prefer to be darker. It’s simply a matter of personal preference. I think we’re living in a time where we have to be more accepting and respectful of people’s choices. Whether we understand those choices or not.

“Most dangers of skin lightening present themselves when people go about the process the wrong way. The choice of products is where we stand out in the industry. Our approach is focused around the natural health of your skin and how to sustain and improve your skin. Most of our products are made of natural ingredients that pose no threat to human skin. Most people you see with skin damage are probably victims of poorly mixed chemicals that irritate the natural make-up of their skin. We’re certified and well studied. This is probably one of, if not the main reason why our clients take pride in what we do and we stand proud in how they feel.”

“When it comes to skincare, I think the biggest mistake people in general make is that they do not understand the hard work it takes to make products that will keep users/clients coming back for more. The health and rich nature of the human skin is all that matters. Most likely aren’t properly educated in the field of skincare and tend to “freestyle” a lot. That won’t cut it. Anybody that puts in the time and dedication will understand that that skincare is big time and needs attention,” she added.

On ageing, Whyte-Femi avers that aging is a gradual, continuous process of natural change that begins in early adulthood. She stated that during early middle age, many bodily functions begin to gradually decline, adding that people do not become old or elderly at any specific age. While aging is an independent process, it can be influenced by the choice of skincare regime one adopts.

“I believe it is very important in general to care and pamper your Skin and Self as it would represent you for the rest of your life. Good skincare is anti-aging. It keeps your skin looking younger as the day goes by. Also, some of our in-house services are very relaxing and calming, they relieve pain , stress and improve your wellness. Also to boost your confidence level …as there’s just this confidence you have/feel having a healthy glowing skin free from acne , sunburn etc,” she said.

“There’s nothing like healthy glowing skin. Whether you are light-skinned, caramel tone-skinned or dark-skinned. You can wear a T-shirt and trousers and look really really good with healthy glowing skin and you can wear all the designers in the world with a damaged skin and still look just horrible.

As the years go by, the world of skin care is advancing and there have been loads of amazing results you can now achieve with aesthetic machines such as permanent stretch marks removal treatments , scar revisions , non surgical fat reductions , etc. So, now you can achieve loads of remedies/solutions for yourself and skin and age gracefully. Like I always say, good care is anti-aging so if you use healthy products from the right products from a certified skincare house you would most definitely enjoy a more radiant glowing skin,” she added.

Since berthing in 2012 Skin Therapy Beauty and Spa by Mimi Whyte-Femi has changed not only the landscape but the narrative concerning skincare and therapy. Mimi Whyte-Femi, the brain behind the brand, didn’t come to the industry to exploit a business opportunity but rather to fulfill a need.
