Empathetic Leadership Vital for Fostering Loyalty, Productivity

The Head of Human Resources, Lekoil Nigeria, Kike Fajemirokun, has revealed that empathetic leadership is the elixir that would foster loyalty and productivity, adding that balancing multigenerational conversations remains an art.
She also stated that the younger generation doesn’t care how you were raised; they want to feel understood.
She further explained that the onus lies on leaders to learn the languages of their teams and invest in upskilling, adding that great leadership nurtures human capital, and as one generation sets, another rises.

Fajemirokun espoused that investment in attitude and personality catalyzes growth, therefore said skills can be taught, but the right attitude is the foundation for success.

The Human Resource Manager averred that building passionate, positive teams cultivates environments ripe for prosperity, noting that the discourse made one thing clear which is that Nigeria’s workforce remains an unstoppable force, ever-evolving and resilient.

She added that through open communication, empathy, and inclusive leadership, the nation can unlock vast human potential even amid turmoil.

According to her, “The wisdom shared during the workshop ignites a beacon of hope, guiding businesses to flourish. By treating employees as cherished assets, embracing their diversity, and nurturing their growth, Nigeria will rise. Let us remember the power of communication, the magic of empathy, and the beauty of building character and attitude. Together, we can illuminate the path to a brighter future for Nigeria’s workforce and its enduring, hopeful spirit.
“However, novel problems demand adaptive solutions based on my personal encounters navigating the economic crisis alongside my team.

“My stories underscored the paramount importance of empathy and communication when times get tough. It boils down to what is going on right now. With personal conviction, reminding us that staying attuned to the workforce’s needs is paramount to success.
“The discussions resonated with bold new ideas, but one theme stood out distinctly – the significance of inclusive decision-making. Employees yearn to be part of the decision-making process, regardless of their position. When we let them know we have heard them and involve them in the journey, trust and motivation follow.

“In a nation grappling with fuel price increases and the shadows of a pandemic, tailored solutions for each company and employee group are vital. The heartbeat of any organization lies in the hearts of its people. Over the years, I have passionately addressed the outflow of talented individuals seeking greener pastures, challenging leaders to embrace empathy to retain their stars.”
