Anambra: Soludo Seeks to Strengthen Data Storage, Distributes Laptops to LGs’ HODs

Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, yesterday, disclosed that his government was working to ensure that data collated in local government areas were preserved for purposes that could engender development.
The state government headed by Soludo in demonstration of the resolve distributed laptop computers that would aid the storage of data collated in rural parts of the state.


The state government also conducted training for Heads of Department of Budget, Planning, Research and Statistics (DBPRS), across the 21 Local Government Areas of the State.
Managing Director of Anambra ICT Agency, Mr. Chukwuemeka Agbata, who spoke during the distribution of the computers explained that the agency has made provision for the storage of data collated in rural areas in Anambra cloud, and called up for purposes without seeking for assistance or waiting longer for such information.


He said besides the distribution of laptops, the training was crucial as it would empower them with the knowledge of data management and data security, adding that his office was determined to help the governor archive his vision to digitise governance processes.
“The government of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo is determined to improve your work environment and satisfaction. He is passionate about your welfare and has said that said that Local Government funds should be used for local government”, he said.


The state Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr. TonyCollins Nwabunwanne, while handing over the laptops to the 21 officials, said it would encourage them to function effectively on their various job schedule.
Nwabunwanne, said the one-day capacity training program was organised in collaboration with Anambra State ICT Agency, with the theme, ‘Empowering Data-Driven Governance through Technology’.


He urged the participants to take good advantage of the opportunity offered to improve their knowledge on their various fields.
“The laptop is a work tool which the government is providing to facilitate your activities and improve your productivity. They (laptops) belong to the Ministry of Local Government Affairs and should be handled carefully.

“Do not abuse the opportunity. They are basic work tools to improve on your job. We shall equip Local Government offices with furniture. Needs assessment is going on, and we will start procurement soon,” he noted.
