Ooni Commends Olajide’s Appointment as CCA Chair

The Ooni of Ife, Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II has extended his congratulations to entrepreneur and investor, John Olajide, on his recent appointment as the new Chairman of the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), effective from January 1, 2024.

Olajide, who currently serves as the vice president of CCA, secured the position amidst strong competition and will succeed Dr. Jeffrey L. Sturchio, whose term concludes on December 31, 2023.

In a letter, Ooni highlighted Olajide’s remarkable achievements as a valuable representative of Oduduwa’s lineage.

Despite being originally from Ekiti state, Olajide has made significant contributions from his base in the United States. He has demonstrated innovation as an entrepreneur, investor, care-at-home innovator, civic leader, global community builder, and philanthropist, bringing pride to Nigeria through his endeavours abroad.

Acknowledging Olajide’s role as the head of Axxess, a prominent healthcare technology company, and Chairman of Cavista Holdings Limited, Ooni emphasized the significance of his accomplishment.

He underscored the importance of having a youth from Nigeria and Africa lead the CCA, a distinguished U.S. business association focused on fostering connections between businesses in Africa and the United States.

Established in 1993, the CCA plays a vital role in promoting business and investment relationships between the two regions.

“Olajide’s emergence will further foster deeper ties with Africa and Nigeria as a whole and his wealth of knowledge as the current Vice President will allow him to bring his knowledge on Africa to favour Africa and create more business and investment opportunities.”

In his capacity as CCA Chairman, Olajide will guide the organization’s mission, elevate its initiatives, and drive growth in membership, trade, investment, and business partnerships between the United States and African nations.

Olajide’s appointment is expected to bring about a meaningful impact on trade and investment opportunities between the U.S. and Africa. Ooni conveyed his certainty that CCA would thrive under Olajide’s leadership. His extensive experience and notable achievements position him well for this new responsibility.

As Olajide prepares to assume office in the coming year, he expressed his gratitude to the Ooni of Ife for his support and kind words. He embraced the opportunity to take the helm of the CCA Board Chairman role from Dr. Sturchio at the start of 2024.

“I am honoured to take on the responsibility of Chairman of the Board at Corporate Council on Africa,” he said. “I look forward to continuing to collaborate with Jeff and to working with all the members of the CCA Board of Directors as well as with the remarkable team at CCA, U.S. and African government and private sector leaders, and other stakeholders to accelerate economic development, foster transformative partnerships between the U.S. and Africa, and improve the lives of people both here in the U.S. and across the continent.”
