What is missing in Nigeria music industry- Bolaji Basia reveals

Canada-based Nigerian Ace promoter, Saheed Bolaji Ajani widely known as Bolaji Basia in an exclusive interview, emphasized the need for an enabling environment to foster growth and innovation.

According to him, one of the challenges faced by Nigeria’s entertainment industry is delineation in progress into the potential future trajectory.

Basia further added that the key contributory stance of the Nigerian government is providing businesses and artists with an environment where creativity can thrive unimpeded.

He equally emphasized the need for a conducive atmosphere. “All the government has to do is give the business people an enabling environment where they can do good business and strive,” he added.

Speaking on promotion as a metric for Nigeria music industry growth, Basia reiterated that aside the governments intervention, adopting technological evolution is paramount.

“the world is evolving, and while it’s evolving, many things are happening,” he said.

However, challenges such as piracy, inadequate infrastructure, and lack of proper intellectual property protection persist are undisputed challenges Nigerian music industry is experiencing, resulting to unprecedented growth, and shielding artists from achieving global recognition.

Yet, the evolution of technology aids the abolishment of these challenges.

“As God will have it, we have numbers, we have people to stream it. I think things can only get better; it can’t get worse,” he expressed optimistically.

Bolaji Basia was one of the big names in the entertainment circuit. He was a big promoter, promoting the likes of K1 and others like Ayuba in those days.
