Onyeuko, Ex-Military Spokesperson, Dies

Three days after a Nigerian Army officer, Brig. Gen. Ibrahim Ahmadu slumped and died while taking part in the service second Annual Physical Training Test 2023 in Abuja, a former Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj-Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, has reportedly passed on.

It gathered that Onyeuko died at a private hospital in Abuja yesterday morning, after complaining of cold and was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.

Onyeuko compulsorily retired from the Nigerian Army after the recent appointment of new service chiefs.

The general was appointed Director of Procurement at the Defence Headquarters Department of Logistics.

Ahmadu’s death had sent shock across military formations as the army officer had been known for gallantry and was a stickler for professionalism and regimental duties.

According to a source, Brig.-Gen. Ahmadu was rushed to an Abuja hospital, where he was confirmed dead after he fell during the physical test exercise.
