The much-anticipated collaboration between Editi Effiong and Anakle Films, ‘The Black Book’, is a mystery and crime thriller. It promises stellar performance with Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) in the lead among a star-studded cast. ‘The Black Book’ is Editi Effiong’s debut feature film as director.

The film weaves the emotional story of a father who seeks justice following the killing of his son. The synopsis reads “Old scores bubble to the surface when a man’s only son is killed by a gang of corrupt policemen and he falls back on his military training to get justice.” The Black Book will premiere on the 22nd of September.

Fans will see another side to RMD (Paul Edima) as he plays the bereaved father. In a post about the film, RMD explains the intensity and dedication put in the production of ‘The Black Book’. “The first thing I noticed when I left Editi was that he kept to his word and followed up. Within days, arrangements were made with my preferred chef for a new diet plan, a trainer was paid, and I thought Ok, this young man is serious,” RMD recounts.

Also starring in the movie are Ade Laoye, working alongside Sam Dede, Alex Usifo, Olumide Oworu, Shaffy Bello, Ireti Doyle, Taiwo Ajayi Lycett, Ikechukwu Onunaku, Patrick Doyle, Bimbo Manuel, Femi Branch, Kelechi Udegbe, Nobert Young and many more.

“The Black Book is a very human story about a father who is looking for justice when his son is killed. Nigeria has a history of drug trafficking, and The Black Book explores that from the 80s and how those events in the 80s affect what we have today. It also pays a lot of homage to young people who have borne the brunt of that violence,” Effiong said.
