100 Days in Office: Sani Inaugurates Five Mobile Medical Trucks, Women, Children Shelter

Kaduna State governor, Senator Uba Sani, has inaugurated five mobile medical trucks, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to provide medical services to communities that are difficult to reach.

The governor also inaugurated the Women and Children Shelter, located at Katuru Road in Kaduna metropolis to provide accommodation and other services to victims of Gender Based Violence (GBV) and other abuses.

Speaking at the inaugurations yesterday in Kaduna, Sani, who was represented by his deputy, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, said the mobile medical trucks will boost healthcare services and enhance the wellbeing and survival of the citizens.

According to him, the trucks will solve the problems of long and difficult terrains that makes it difficult to rural communities to access health services.

“With these medical trucks, screening and diagnosis of ailment will be brought to the doorstep of the citizens of Kaduna State. Our administration is committed to taking all necessary steps to make significant progress towards achieving universal health coverage,” he said.

According to him, the vision of his administration is to build strengthen enhanced health system that is adequately equipped, well staffed with comprehensive, accessible and affordable services to deliver distanced standard of care.

“To this end, we undertook an innovative approach to better our state’s healthcare system. “Among the initiatives we took, we have procured state of the art mobile diagnostic units which will facilitate the provision of quality diagnostics services to our far to reach, hard to reach and other underserved communities.

“These mobile units will offer a range of services, including maternal, newborn and child health interventions, radiology services and all laboratory diagnosis of ailments such as malaria, HIV, hepatitis B and C, tuberculosis and many more.

“They will also serve as vital tools for ongoing disease surveillance initiative while strengthening basic clinical services; referrals and linkages. They will equally provide a platform for regular advocacy, social and community mobilization activities and other campaigns,” the governor said.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Women and Children Shelter, the governor expressed displeasure over the magnitude of abuses that women and children are subjected to in the society.

He said the facility being inaugurated  was initiated by the state government to provide support and assistance to women and children who have been affected by violence in private and public spaces with the family, community and workplaces.
