There is heavy security in and around the Court of Appeal, venue of the Election Petition Court, hearing three petitions seeking to nullify the election of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as President.
The tribunal had on Monday announced that its judgments in the three petitions filed by Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) and the Allied People’s Movement (APM), would be delivered on Wednesday September 6, 2023.
The five member panel led by Justice Haruna Tsammani had on August 1, reserved its judgments after parties in the petitions filed by Atiku and Obi, adopted and argued their final written addresses.
However, as the court sets to deliver its verdicts, security personnel of the Department of State Service (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force have since the early hours of Wednesday condoned off all access roads leading to the court, ensuring that only people who have business with the day’s proceedings gain entry into the courtroom.
Besides, accredited individuals were thoroughly screened before they could be allowed into the court premises.
Dignitaries already at the court for the judgment include; Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, All Progressives Congress (APC), Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, factional Labour Party Chairman, Julius Abure amongst others.
Meanwhile, the panel is expected to deliver its judgment soon.
