President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been commended for going into the oil producing area of Abia State to appoint the state’s representative on the newly constituted board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The Ukwa West Local Government chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), lauded the President for the propriety of choosing Chief Dimgba Eruba to represent Abia.

The Ukwa West APC leaders expressed “profound gratitude,” to the President in a communique dated September 4, 2023, issued at the end of its meeting. The communique was signed by the LG chairman of the party, Uju Nwarie; Secretary, Emmanuel Nwuju, all the chairmen of the 10 Wards as well as the state Assistant Secretary, Engr. Sterling Uruakpa.

Eruba, from Ukwa West, was on August 29, appointed a board member when the President named the new NDDC Board and management team.
In the past, there had been instances where the appointment of Abia’s representative on the NDDC Board generated controversies and even outright rejection from the oil bearing area.
But Ukwa West APC noted that Tinubu made the “right choice” with Eruba’s appointment, adding that it enjoyed widespread support in the oil producing area and the state in general.

“This is one of the appointment that has brought joy to the hearts of the party and the people,” the party leaders said.
They described Eruba as a leader who has an unflinching belief both in the party and the present administration of Bola Tinubu, adding that the new board member “is a humble son of Asa and a sincere party man”.

“We cannot hide our happiness. The appointment of Chief Eruba has brought enormous joy in the LGA and the entire state,” the Ukwa West APC.
At the meeting, the Ukwa West APC declared its adoption of Eruba as the leader of the party following a motion moved by Engr Uruakpa and seconded by the Uju Nwarie.
