JAN to Empower Corps Members With Business, Management Skills

Junior Achievement Nigeria (JAN), in partnership with Parthian Partners, GB Foods, and MasterCard, is set to empower some selected National Youth Service Corps members with essential business management and career skills.

JAN noted on Friday in Lagos that the five-day empowerment programme will be executed through its 23rd edition of the Venture in Management Programme (ViMP), which will take place at the Lagos Business School next Monday to Friday.

JAN also noted that this year’s edition of the programme marks the 23rd year of its partnership with Lagos Business School and the third time the programme will be held in a hybrid mode.

About 100 corps members and recent graduates selected for the programme will be taken through activities aimed at sharpening their entrepreneurial and work readiness skills through case-study sessions facilitated by world-class educators and professors.

According to JAN, the programme will also feature study groups, panel discussions, community service projects, alumni mixers and career fairs with leading professionals from the ViMP alumni community and other industry professionals.

The Executive Director of JAN, Foluso Gbadamosi, stated that JAN, through its four pillars of work: readiness, entrepreneurship, digital literacy, and financial literacy, has empowered in- and out-of-school young people and youths ages 5 to 35 years free of charge.

Thanking Parthian Partners, GB Foods, and MasterCard for their continued support and partnership, Gbadamosi stated that the ViMP is one of JAN’s ways of raising global leaders passionate about the well-being of nations and people, as well as contributing to the attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goals 1, 4, 5, 8, 10, 11, 13, and 17.

“We are convinced that young people can transform their communities and create long-term solutions that will have an impact on the world around them,” Gbadamosi said.

Mr Vincent Egbe, the General Manager of GB Foods Nigeria, stated that ViMP has played a critical role in nation-building and raising new leaders for over two decades, evidenced by ViMP alumni like Bosun Tijani who are now serving ministers in Nigeria and leaders across many spheres and sectors.

“Young leaders have inspired major transformations in Nigeria. From the founding fathers of Nigeria’s independence to global music icons, these young leaders have been shaping how we evolve,” Egbe added.

For the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Parthian Partners, Oluseye Olusoga, their partnership with JAN is a testament to their shared commitment to fostering leadership and harnessing talents that will shape the future of the country.

“With over 29.7 million youths comprising more than 20 percent of Nigeria’s population, investment in skill enhancement and leadership development for our youth is not merely essential − it is an absolute imperative,” Olusoga said.
