Bago: Niger Government Will Take Over Dilapidated Federal Roads

Niger State Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Umaru Bago, has said the state government would take over the rehabilitation and reconstruction of federal roads across the state.
Bago, who spoke at a reception the government organised for the two Ministers, Senators, Members of the house of representatives and House of Assembly as well as political appointees in the state, however, did not say what conditions the state would give the federal government for the rehabilitation of the federal roads.
It is worthy to note that virtually all the federal roads in the state are in the worse state of disrepair making banditry to thrive because of lack of easy movement on these roads by vehicles.
The governor also disclosed that the state would key into the agricultural revolution programmes of the federal government to boost food and cash crop production and also provide jobs for the youths
Bago, also said the new administration in the state has, “set a tall order of N500 million” for itself an amount that would be used to pursue the urban renewal programme of the administration.
He disclosed that government would complete construction of houses at the three arms zone, assuring that the first set of occupants would move into houses constructed in the area in the next 6 months.
On why the government organised the reception, Bago said now that the campaigns and elections were over, “there is the need for us to know ourselves better.”
“We need to talk to ourselves we need to communicate, we need to know what we need as a people and as a state,” Bago declared before directing local government Chairmen to organise similar programmes for appointees and elected personnel in their respective local government area.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Information Mr. Mohammed Idris Malagi, appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the federal government, saying the policies and programmes being implemented were to have positive impact on the people in the shortest time possible.
Malagi, disclosed that as a result of the removal of subsidy from petrol state governments are now getting more revenue from the centre and therefore advised that such resources should be used to improve the condition of living of the people.
He also disclosed that, “all state governors are aware of the steps being taken by the federal government to cushion the effect of the removal of subsidy from petrol” saying that ” President Tinubu hopes the steps will go a long way to revamp the economy”.
All the first class traditional rulers, the State Chief Judge and top businessmen were among those that attended the reception.
