Edo, Bayelsa, Others Shine at DSP Kickboxing Championship

Edo State has emerged champions of the 2nd edition of the Diamond Superstars Promotion Kickboxing Championship held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Edo State.

The state won 7 gold, 8 silver and 8 bronze medals to emerge victorious thereby dethroning Delta State that won the first edition. 

Bayelsa State finished second with 5 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze medals while Oyo State placed third with  3 gold and 3 bronze medals.

 Loveth Patra Ekufu, USA-based Nigeria-born former National and World Kickboxing champion who is a former Mixed Martial Arts champion and a renowned International Referee bankrolled the championship.

She gave kudos to all those who contributed in making the programme a success.

Meanwhile, President of the Kickboxing Federation of Nigeria (KBFN), Mr. Wilson Gabriel Okon,  while commenting on the championship, praised Loveth Patra Ekufu for remembering her roots and charged other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate her good gestures.

Okon who just returned from Madagascar on continental kickboxing duties, also praised the technical officials led by Mr. Nelson Oluigbo for putting up a good show. Over 70 Kickboxers drawn from various states and clubs from across the country took part in the week-long championship.
