Genevieve Nnaji Returns to the Spotlight with New Movie

‘I Do Not Come To You By Chance’, the much talked about movie which credits Genevieve Nnaji as executive producer, has premiered at the ongoing Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) as part of the features for the festival’s Centrepiece programme, which included 47 titles from 45 countries.
Genevieve Nnaji who was at the premiere was joined by some of her colleagues at the festival which closes tomorrow September 17, 2023. The revered actress thereafter posted photos taken at the film showcase on her Instagram page, marking official return on social media, using the movie title “I Do Not Come To You By Chance, #tiff23” as caption.
Photos of Genevieve Nnaji and friends on vacation in Italy trended a couple of weeks back and got her fans excited. Genevieve Nnaji’s return to the spotlight as an executive producer with her latest cinematic venture comes after a five-year hiatus since her acclaimed Netflix original, “Lionheart” in 2018.
She serves as co-executive producer on the new movie with Chioma Onyenwe and Chinny Carter, while scripting was done by Chika Anadu and Ishaya Bako. The film is an adaptation of Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani’s debut novel (2009), which shares the same title as the movie, starring Paul Nnadiekwe, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Emeka Nwagbaraocha, Jennifer Eliogu, Sambasa Nberibe, and Beverly Osu.
The film presents its narrative in both English and Igbo. It follows a struggling Nigerian graduate, whose seemingly sole option involves assisting his dubious uncle’s fraudulent email scam, unraveling the poignant tale of a young man grappling with the immense responsibility of liberating his family from the clutches of poverty.
