The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has announced the commencement of the 18th Abuja International Trade Fair (AITF) scheduled to commence between September 29 and October 9, 2023, at the Abuja Trade and Convention Centre.

Addressing journalists at a media briefing over the weekend, President, ACCI, Dr. Al-Mujtaba Abubakar, said over N1 billion in turnover was expected to be recorded by exhibitors, exceeding last year’s sales.

He also said negotiations are currently underway to ensure that big companies provide products at reasonable discounts to participants in view of the current economic situation in the country.

Abubakar said this year’s exhibition, with the theme: “Sustainable Financing and Taxation as Drivers for the New Economy”, would serve as a platform for businesses to engage with financial and tax institutions, discuss current trends and solutions, and foster sustainable approaches to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

He said the event will showcase innovative products and solutions from partners and exhibitors in various sectors including fintech, tax collection, payment systems, e-health, food processing, and environmental safety.

Represented by the Director General, ACCI, Dr. Victoria Akai, he said the theme is centered on financing and taxation which remain the cornerstone of any prosperous economy and are of immense importance to the business community towards addressing climate-friendly initiatives, the ease of doing business, and attracting foreign direct investment.

Abubakar pointed out that the fair serves as a dynamic convergence of diverse industries, bringing together a wide array of exhibitors representing sectors such as industry, trade, agriculture, and services.

Moreover, it provides a vibrant platform for fostering exchanges between national and international stakeholders, facilitating fruitful interactions between businesses and government agencies.
