TCN Restores Power Supply to Sokoto, Says Work in Kebbi Ongoing

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has said the company has restored bulk power supply to Sokoto state, stressing that it is currently working on the Kebbi line as well as environs.

“We are diligently working to extend this restoration to Kebbi State and other areas affected by the unfortunate Birnin Kebbi Substation fire incident that occurred on September 14th, 2023,” it said in a statement.

The bulk power supply to Sokoto State , it said, was reinstated through the Talata Mafara Substation.

“Our engineering team, along with the Managing Director/CEO and the Executive Director, Transmission Service Provider (TSP), are on-site, putting in every effort to reconnect Kebbi State and its environs to the grid through an another substation,” it added.

The company stated that its engineers were actively working on transferring load to the 150MVA and 60MVA power transformers in the substation, which were unaffected by the fire incident.

Additionally, it noted that cables were being rearranged, and reinforcement teams from other TCN regions had equally arrived at the substation with the necessary materials to expedite repair work.

The statement signed by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, recalled the commitment of the Managing Director, Dr. Sule Abdulaziz, who expressed his deep concern about the  incident at the Birnin Kebbi Substation.
