Bello Inaugurates Kogi APC Governorship Election Council
Ibrahim Oyewale in Lokoja
The Kogi State Governor, Mr. Yahaya Bello, has inaugurated the All Progressive Congress (APC) Governorship Election Campaign Council ahead of the November election in the state.
While speaking at the inauguration of the members of the campaign council in Lokoja yesterday, Bello tasked the council to work hard to deliver the governorship candidate of the APC, Mr. Ododo Ahmed Usman.
The governor also tasked the chairman of the party, Mr. Abdullah Bello, to enlarge the list to include everyone in one committee or the other as part of efforts to ensure inclusiveness.
He said: “The era of ‘monkey dey chop, baboon dey chop’ is over, now ‘monkey go work, monkey go chop.’”
Bello also urged on the campaign council not to preach ethnicity or religion but to base their campaign on issues bothering what the government had achieved in the last eight years and the ability of Ododo to do the same and even surpass them.
He called on members not to join issues with others who do not have anything to offer in terms of adding value to the state and its inhabitants.
He said: “Forget about liars whose stuck in trade is thuggery with nothing to offer. Go out there, preach what we have on the ground in terms of infrastructure, not about ethnicity; Kogi State belongs to all of us. I have always said that Kogi State has the potential to be great if only we stopped playing politics of ethnicity.”
He urged every member of the party to work together to achieve victory in the November 11 election.
“I want all of you to go and work to the success of the party and you will be adequately rewarded,” he added.
