The Prodigy Foundation Inaugurates Youth Empowerment Initiative in Ekiti

With the aim of catalyzing positive change in the lives of young people, ‘The Prodigy Foundation’ over the weekend launched its first youth empowerment initiative with a commitment to help youth in the suburban community of Orin, Ekiti State, enhance a brighter future
In a statement from the foundation, it said, “Mathew Oke, The Prodigy Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) established in October 2020 to honour the philanthropic legacy of the late Chief Mathew Oke, proudly inaugurated its first youth empowerment initiative in the suburban community of Orin, Ekiti State, Nigeria.
“Chief Mathew Oke, fondly remembered as the ‘Oniwaro of Orin Ekiti,’ was a revered community leader, a devoted father, a man of faith, and a retired Assistant comptroller of customs.
“His unwavering commitment to the betterment of his community led to significant milestones, including bringing electricity to the entire Orin community, supporting numerous young people in pursuing education, and fostering overall community growth.
“The Mathew Oke The Prodigy Foundation was founded by Chief Mathew Oke’s children with a noble mission – to perpetuate his legacy by uplifting the underprivileged and disadvantaged communities through various empowerment initiatives.
“The launch event spanned two enriching days, commencing with exciting football matches amongst High schools in neighbouring communities. Ora Community High School came first beating Orin High School on penalties in the final game of the competition.
“The victorious team earned cash prizes and a prestigious football cup. Addressing the audience, Ayodeji Oke, the Chairman of the foundation, announced a groundbreaking initiative – an annual provision of 100,000 naira each to 20 deserving students every year.
“Additionally, a state-of-the-art tech hub and a vibrant sports centre are slated for commissioning beginning in the upcoming year, 2024.”
The event saw the esteemed attendance of prominent leaders who share a profound friendship with the late Chief Mathew Oke, in whose honour the foundation was established.
Among the attendees were Assistant Comptroller of Customs, Kayode Ajibola; Former Minister of Education, Prof. Tunde Adeniran, Ekiti State Permanent Secretary, Francis Omotoso, and Retired lecturer at the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Dr. Patrick Famure among others.
“At its heart, the Mathew Oke’s Prodigy Foundation is dedicated to youth empowerment. The foundation has made a resolute commitment to illuminate the path to a brighter future for the youth, reinforcing the enduring legacy of Chief Mathew Oke,” the statement concludes.
