ICOBA Elects New Executives

Igbobi College Old Boys’ Association (ICOBA) recently elected Mr. Olufemi Olubanwo as its new president during its 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and election held at the Angus Memorial Hall.
Olubanwo is a founding partner of Banwo and Ighodalo, one of the largest and best-known law firms in Nigeria. He heads the firm’s IP and technology practice, which also covers media and entertainment. His other long term and more traditional practice areas are banking and corporate finance, project finance, investments, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, and mining.
Other newly elected National Executive Council (NEC) members inaugurated by the Chairman, Board of Trustee of ICOBA, Mr. Bode Thorpe, include; Mr. Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, who was returned as the first Vice-President. Chief Olatokunbo Ajasin as the second Vice-President, Mr. Gbenga Olatunbosun as the Secretary General, and Olusegun Adeyemi as the first Assistant Secretary General. Mr. Jamiu Babatunde Aderibigbe, Wasiu Ademuyiwa Adebayo, Nathaniel Oluseyi Adeyemi, and Kayode Folarin Coker were returned as second Assistant General, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, and Assistant Financial Secretary, respectively.
Other newly elected members of the National Executive Council include Mr. Olatunji Akinwunmi as the Social Secretary, Gbenga Mafoitan as the Assistant Social Secretary, Olufemi Bankole as the Publicity Secretary, and Adeleke Olusegun Ademiju as the Assistant Publicity Secretary. Mr. Seni Adio SAN, Wasiu Olayemi Sedun, and Mike Aideloje were 80s, 90s and 2000 decade representatives respectively.
In his acceptance speech, Olubanwo thanked all those who voted for him and promised to continue with the programmes of his predecessor. He explained his administration’s readiness to focus on fundraising that will enhance revitalising the education standard at the college.
He added that the association will ensure that students have better facilities, more curriculum options, and assist in their extracurricular development.
“ICOBA will continue to be a model for other old students,” he stated.
ICOBA is the umbrella body of old students of Igbobi College Yaba. It maintains and enhances a highly engaged, vibrant community of alumni worldwide and helps connect alumni to each other and their class sets through a wealth of community activities and events around the world.
