‘Delta Gov ‘ll Ensure Road Projects are Done to Specification’

The Special Adviser to Delta State Governor, on Projects Monitoring and Audit, Mr. Goodnews Agbi, has said that the current administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, would ensure that any road project awarded is executed to specifications and standard.
He said the “MORE Agenda” of the Oborevwori’s administration would keep to the electioneering campaign promises he made to Deltans by bringing more socio-economic growth to the state.
Agbi made the declaration yesterday in Asaba when he assumed office at the State Secretariat, and promised that he would offer advices that would help the current administration to succeed and meet yearnings of the state.
Agbi also promised that the current government would constitute a task force across the three senatorial districts to ensure all road projects are done to standard and specifications.
Also Delta State Governor, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has assured of the commitment of his administration towards given equal attention to rural and urban roads in the state.
Oborevwori said that this informed the recent State Executive Council’s (SEC) approval for the construction of three flyovers in Warri and Uvwie Local Government Areas of the state to check persistent traffic gridlock in the metropolises.
Governor Oborevwori gave the assurance during the inauguration of 2.6 km Okpolo/Enhwe/Uwheru Road (Phase 2) to mark his first 100 days in office.
He said that irrespective of paucity of fund, his administration has decided to embark on the road project to mitigate the challenges of perennial flooding in the area.
“l am particularly happy for the successful completion and commissioning of the Okpolo/Enhwe/Uwheru Road (Phase 2) which is very dear to the Delta State Government, my people of Isoko South LGA and their neighbors of Uwheru in Ughelli North LGA as it will improve on the economic life of the People both in commerce and industry,” he said.
The President General of Okpolo-Enhwe Progressive Union, Mr. Kennedy Idolor, said that the visit of the governor to the community to inaugurate the 2.6 km road was an eloquent testament of the “MORE Agenda” at work.
While appreciating the Governor for ensuring continuity of the project to completion, Idolor also commended the Chairman of DeWayles Group of Companies, Mr. Emonena Victor Wayles Egukawhore, for seeing to the speedy execution of the road project.
He said: “It is also worthy of note, to put on record the invaluable role exhibited by the architect and think – tank, who speedily pushed this project forward from conception to completion by readily making resources available and personally visited the site at intervals in the course of execution, Mr. Emonena Victor Wayles Egukawhore. He has been very instrumental, as the major personality who influenced this project to the community.”
The Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural and Riverine Areas), Mr. Charles Aniagwu, affirmed that Emorock Concepts Limited, a subsidiary of Dewayle’s Group of Companies, executed the Okpolo-Enhwe Road project with the needed expertise and engineering ingenuity to complete the job in record time.
Aniagwu noted that from the quality of job done, coupled with the speed , precision and engineering expertise displayed in the construction of Okpolo/Enhwe/Uwheru Road (Phase 2), was an indication that indigenous companies can walk shoulder high with foreign firms if they are properly motivated.
