JAMB Reverses Date for National Forum on Equal Access to Higher Education

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG) has rescheduled its first ‘National Conference on Equal Opportunity of Access to Higher Education in Nigeria’ earlier scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 26th and Wednesday, 27th September, to Monday, 25th and Tuesday, 26th September, 2023.

The change in date was as a result of a possible declaration of Wednesday, 27th September, 2023, as a public holiday by the federal government.

This was contained in a statement issued yesterday, in Abuja, by the Board’s Acting Director, Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr. Fabian Benjamin.

The statement stated that the, “Board regrets all inconveniences occasioned by this change in date and calls on all stakeholders, including all Heads of Tertiary Institutions; Heads of Examination Bodies – the West African Examination Council (WAEC); National Examinations Council (NECO); National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB); National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS); State Commissioners of Education; Heads of Schools of Persons with Disabilities; Deans of Faculties of Education and Heads of Departments of Special Education; Leaders and Members of Association of Persons with Disabilities and the General Public, to note this change and act accordingly.”

According to the statement, other information pertaining to venue and time remain as earlier announced.

The conference, which has as its theme: ”Towards Increasing Equal Opportunity of Access to Higher Education in Nigeria” aims to boosting the enrolment opportunities of persons with disabilities in the Nigerian tertiary education system.

The statement urged the expected participants to indicate their interest by registering through a dedicated link.

“Registration for the conference is free. However, participants would be responsible for other associated costs, including transportation and accommodation,” he added.
