The governorship candidate of Accord Party (AP) in Kogi State, former Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Jibrin Usman, has assured the people of the state of adequate security if elected as the state governor in the November 11 election.
He gave this assurance while speaking at a town hall meeting with stakeholders in Koton Karfe, Kogi Local Government Area yesterday.
Usman explained that he was in the town to seek the people’s support ahead of the election, noting that the time has come for the people of Kogi State to enjoy the real dividends of democracy.
He pointed out that as former naval chief, he facilitated the Naval Base in Banda between Koton Karfe and Lokoja, the state capital, whose presence is instrumental to the relative peace across the state now.
The AP candidate stated that he was not the governor when this was done along with the Navy Secondary in Okura and another Naval Base in Idah all in Kogi State before retirement few years ago.
He pointed out that he is fully aware of the stress the youths are facing in Kogi State, adding that if elected the governor, he will create employment opportunities for the youths across the state.
Usman also assured women of the state of empowerment with soft loan and small scale businesses in their various communities.
He told the crowd that if voted to power, he will not be an Abuja-based governor, noting that he always stays in Kogi State.
Earlier, Usman paid a courtesy visit to the palace of Ohimegye Igu for royal blessing from the traditional ruler, saying with nostalgia that he is a son of the soil who came for royal blessing.
