President Bola Tinubu has appointed Jamiu Abiola, the son of the late Chief Moshood Abiola (MKO), winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election, as Special Assistant on Special Duties.

The president made the appointment in the letter he sent to the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, before he left for the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Abiola, who graduated from the New York University in United States has been deployed by the President to office of the Vice President, Kassim Shetimma, to assist the Tinubu-Shetimma-led administration in achieving the promises made to Nigerians during the 2023 presidential poll.

It is believed the appointment was in deference to the late Abiola’s accomplishments and acclaimed philanthropism in the country and abroad.
“I am pleased to inform you that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved your appointment as Special Assistant to the President on Special Duties (Office of the Vice President),” the letter sighted by THISDAY read.
