Federal Fire Service Inspects John Holt’s RIV to Boost Firefighting Capabilities

Officials of the Federal Fire Service have visited John Holt Plc, to inspect the organisation’s newly developed state-of-the-art technology; Rapid Intervention Vehicle (RIV) and Rapid Intervention Trolley (RIT), designed to bolster firefighting capabilities.

During the visit in Lagos, which witnessed an inspection and testing of advanced firefighting equipment, the officials described it as a game-changing asset for corporate, residential and state fire emergency response.

They were shown a comprehensive demonstration of the capabilities of the Rapid Intervention Vehicle, designed to respond swiftly to fire emergencies and effectively control blazes. 

In his remarks, Head of Investigation, Inspectorate, and Enforcement, Federal Fire Service, Lagos Chapter, Mr. Godwin Omozuanvbo, described it as a welcome development for Nigeria’s firefighting efforts.

He emphasised on the significance of such innovative technology, saying, “the speed and efficiency with which the RIV operates can significantly impact our firefighting capabilities, potentially saving lives and valuable resources.

“The RIV boasts of ultra-high pressure systems, foam technology, and a- 70 metres operational radius (60-metre-long hose and 1o metres throw range) with different nozzle settings.

He underscored the transformative potential of the RIV and RIT, saying that the equipment have the ability to respond swiftly to fire emergencies, control fires effectively, and reduce the risk of extensive damage.

Omozuanvbo explained the tremendous impact that widespread adoption of the RIV and RIT could have in Nigeria’s firefighting landscape.

“By streamlining emergency response and enhancing firefighting efficiency, these assets have the potential to save both lives and significant financial resources.

“With cutting-edge technology at its disposal, Nigerian businesses are poised to embark on a new era of enhanced safety and resource preservation in the face of fire emergencies, “the head of investigation stated.

In his response, the Managing Director of John Holt Plc, Dr. Christopher Eneh, said his organisation is committed to providing innovative solutions that address the country’s pressing challenges. 

“The introduction of the Rapid Intervention Vehicle and trolley in Nigeria is a testament to this commitment, and the Federal Fire Service’s positive assessment is a promising step towards a safer and more resilient Nigeria.”
