Foundation Empowers Over 170 Teens with Tech Skills

RubiesTech Foundation has empowered no fewer than 170 with technology skills as part of its objectives to bridging digital skills gap among Nigeria’s children. 

At a coding boot camp organised recently by the foundation in Epe, Lagos and Ogbomoso in Oyo state, participants with little or no digital knowledge were exposed to coding and also prepared for the future of work in respective fields. 

The participants were introduced to courses like Web development, Python & Robotics and Scratch programming, amongst others at the boot camp that lasted for two weeks. 

Commenting, Founder of RubiesTech Foundation, Miss Afape Ruth underscored the need to constantly engage young minds in the world of technology. 

She stated that the foundation was passionate about equipping children with technological proficiency that will serve them well in the future.

“The coding boot camp not only provided technical knowledge but also instilled problem-solving abilities, creativity, and teamwork among participants. Beyond acquiring technical skills, the programme also fostered an environment of teamwork and personal growth as participants overcame challenges and celebrated their achievements together.

 “By empowering these young minds with the tools they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world, we have further demonstrated commitment to the growth of technology literacy and innovation in Nigeria”, she said. 

The highlight of the boot camp on the final day saw to the exhibition of students’ project. Parent and guardians were invited to witness project presentations that manifested the skills acquired by the children over the two-week period that the programme lasted.
