New Convention Centre Will Create Business Opportunities, Boost Economy, Says Kingsley Obiukwu
The Executive Director, Bolton White Group, Mr Kingsley Obiukwu, has said that the new world-class convention centre being developed by the Group’s subsidiary, Johnwood Hotel in Abuja, will help boost economic growth and tourism in Nigeria.
Obiukwu disclosed this in an interview with journalists in Abuja. According to him, the 1000-capacity convention centre will attract a wide range of Meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE)programmes, including international conferences, trade shows, and exhibitions.
He noted that these events will pull a large number of business travellers, delegates, and tourists from around the world which will, in turn, create business opportunities for local vendors, event planners, and suppliers.
“Generally, the convention centre will have a positive impact on various sectors of the economy. Hosting high-profile events at the convention centre can garner international media attention, lead to an increase in air traffic, and attract tourists and investors”, he said.
Obiukwu stressed that the hospitality industry is crying for such an event centre equipped with the latest technological amenities and the capacity to host a variety of events, especially considering it’s an extension of a luxury hotel like the Johnwood Hotel.
“This project which will be completed in the third quarter of 2024 is proof of our commitment to improving event hosting and the hospital industry at large. We are building a convention centre that will play host to the biggest and most important events in Nigeria and Africa.
“Our goal is to not only redefine how events are hosted but create experiences. We intend to create a space where business and leisure meet”, he added.
